Amber Beads

Amber beads are lightweight and very versatile; however, they score only a 2.5 on the Mohs hardness scale, and therefore scratch very easily. Jewellery made using amber should keep this in mind, and be created, designed and stored in a way that will keep the surface safe from the dents and scratches that come from everyday wear. Amber is found around the world, but most often on the coast of the Baltic Sea and in the Dominican Republic.

Country Beads sells a variety of amber beads in a variety of shapes and sizes, from loose stones to foot-long strands, covering a wide range of prices.

Agate Beads

Agate beads are also popular. Agate is a stone for self-expression, creativity, health and good fortune. It soothes emotions and pains, and attunes the senses.

Country Beads sells a variety of agate beads in strands, including Botswana agate, Brazilian agate, fire agate, fossil agate, laguna lace agate, moss agate, and even white agate. Our agate beads come in many interesting shapes and sizes, and with round, smooth, or faceted cuts.

Turquoise Beads

Our turquoise and turquoise beads are sold in strands and vary in size, shape, and color. Turquoise is a stone of peace, serenity, and tranquility; it said to increase protection, wisdom and balance in the wearer. Colours vary from a vibrant blue to green.

Coral Beads

Coral beads have been used in jewellery since prehistoric times. Colours range from white to red; at Country Beads, we only sell red and fossil corals. Our coral beads are sold by the strand.

Hematite Beads

Hematite is a natural ferric oxide and iron ore. Hematite beads have a shiny, smooth surface, and are nearly black in color. Our hematite beads have exceptional shine and smoothness, and sold by the strand. Shapes vary in rounds of all sizes, smooth barrels, faceted rounds, and roundels.

Hematite is said to be good for kidneys and the heart as is thought to help coagulation and purify the blood; for high blood pressure patients, it is thought to help reduce a rapid pulse.

Lapis Lazuli Beads

Lapis lazuli has been mined in Afghanistan as early as the 3 BC, but other sources have been found as far east as Siberia. Lapis lazuli is a relatively rare semi-precious stone and prized for its intense blue color. The color is always blue, but is often mottled with whites and brassy greens or yellows. It is relatively hard, rating a 5 - 5.5 on the Mohs scale.

Our lapis lazuli beads are sold by the strand, in a variety of shapes and sizes. Lapis lazuli is said to prevent fits and epilepsy, as well as strokes and depression. It also helps the heart and spleen, as well as improve eyesight. Lapis lazuli is a highly spiritual stone.

Onyx Beads

Onyx is known for its protective and healing energies — jewellery made from this stone can help fortify self-confidence and responsibility, as well as help you to release negative emotions. Our black onyx beads are sold in strands, varying in shape and size, as well as finishes.

Country Beads offers a wide variety of beads, semi-precious stones, and crystals to help you create whatever look you want in your jewellery making.
